Mar. 21st, 2003 11:18 pmI just watched "Huck Finn" for the first time in many years. I may have to reduce to incoherent fangirl screaming. Seriously I'm going to be typing 'OMG!!!' and using multiple exclamation points. He was really cute. I can't believe that any child could be that cute. But there he is being cute. I was quite impressed.
I know every teenager says this but my mom doesn't understand me. She is pretty cool as moms go and generally we don't have any problems but the war is causing friction. She's anti war too but we take wildly different positions. I carry posters and am always trying to tell people the facts I've learned. I don't hammer home my points and try to take away free will or anything but I am passionate about my beliefs. My mother tends to say "Oh My God" when she sees something on TV. I think that's ridiculous. I know it's a common reaction but isn't there anything more original to say than "Oh My God." I get annoyed. Of course I also said that I didn't want to talk about (because I thought it was a ridiculous comment.) She got annoyed.
The thing that really gets me is when I try to talk about the war she tells me not to. No she only wants to talk about it at 11pm when I haven't had a full night's sleep in two days. I understand why we don't talk about it always, my brother has really high anxieties about war (he went into a months long anxiety attack after 9/11) and I don't want to add to his issues, but if my mother wants to do something-she should do something, not say "Oh My God."
