Mar. 2nd, 2005 05:44 pmI don't know why I feel compelled to share but I do. My favorite Salinger book is Franny and Zooey. An unusual choice I'm sure but I always try to go off the beaten path. A lot of this is because it was my fate book. I read it Senior Year on Spring Break. Less than a week after getting into college. My first choice college for the record, Sarah Lawrence (where I am currently very happily attending.) There is a line in the book where Franny is describing the other girls who were on the train coming home and she says that one of the girls "looked artistic and as if she had spent the entire train ride in the bathroom making sculpture or a painting and the other girls assumed that she must have been from Sarah Lawrence or Bennington." That isn't the exact quote but you get the idea. At the time I was very excited (and SLC almost never gets name checked) so I took it as a sign. I loved that book ever since.
