Firefly Ficathon
Apr. 28th, 2004 01:03 amThis is my Firefly ficathon story. The requirements were Mal/Kaylee, with the crew getting drunk, lots of UST, and kissing that gets interrupted. It's going to go live tomorrow I guess but since technically it was due today (well really yesterday) I'm going to post it now.
Simple Plans
The plan, such as it was, had been simple. The captain and Kaylee were supposed to go to the bar and secure the merchandise. Like most simple plans it was doomed from the start.
* * *
“So what do we have to do again?” Kaylee had put her dress on and was dutifully standing in the cargo bay waiting for the captain to leave. She had been told but was still mostly unsure of the plan, it seemed like she never got the full story.
“We’re making contact with . . . a contact.” Mal seemed nearly as unsure as Kaylee herself.
“But why am I going in with you, shouldn’t Zoe be going?”
“I need her for backup. Kaylee have you really learned so little about tactics?” There was a fond note in the captain’s voice that made Kaylee smile.
“No, Captain, can’t say as I really do. I still don’t know why you want me to come.”
“Pretty girls distract the disreputable men. Makes it easier to take their money.”
“Oh, Captain, you think I’m pretty.”
* * *
It had started out simply enough. Mal and Kaylee arrived at the meeting point (a rundown bar with the same broken pool table and watered down beer) and set up to wait for the mysterious contact. Zoe and Jayne were across the bar, sitting at another table.
Mal brought over some beer. “Captain, should we be drinking?”
“Well we need to blend in.”
Kaylee looked around and saw beers in front of every other person in the bar. “Okay Captain.”
“While we’re on the subject you might wanna stop calling me captain.”
“Okay, cap – I mean okay.”
The two of them sat in silence, Mal’s eyes nervously scanning the crowd for anyone who might have been the contact. No options immediately presented themselves. Kaylee was sipping her beer and as soon as she finished it, she looked towards the captain and seeing that he was not paying attention to her (and that his beer was also done) moved towards the bar and picked up two more beers.
“How long do we have to wait?” Kaylee didn’t want to seem ungrateful for this opportunity but she was starting to become a little bored, and maybe (though after two beers it seemed unlikely) a little drunk.
“Contact didn’t give me a time.” Mal got up and got more beers.
As the night wore on, Kaylee saw more empty glasses stack up on their table and felt her mind get kind of hazy. No one seemed to be coming up to them and Mal didn’t even seem like he was paying attention to whether or not anyone was coming up to them.
Mal was not wearing his tight pants from before but as he moved towards the bar again, Kaylee could not help but notice that his was indeed a very nice butt within the pants, regardless of the tightness of them.
She said as much when he got back. “Y’know, you’re pretty.”
“Pretty what?”
“Just pretty.”
Mal looked at her and said, “Kaylee, I think you’ve had a little too much to drink.”
“Have not.”
Mal stayed in his seat and made a mental note not to let Kaylee get any more beer, for either of them. He wasn’t entirely sure how much he had drank so far and even though it was looking like his contact wasn’t going to show up he couldn’t risk being anymore out of it than he already was.
Mal scanned the bar one last time, even less assured that he was somehow going to find his contact in the hazy bar. A contact he wasn’t entirely sure what looked like as well.
“What the – Kaylee, what are you doing?” Kaylee had moved her chair around until she was right next to Mal and was currently rubbing her hand down the inside of his thigh.
“Well, Captain, I told you I thought you were pretty. I figured I might as well show you.” She smiled widely, an almost mischievous look on her face. Mal had the distinct feeling that he was not in control of this situation, not at all.
“Now, Kaylee, I think that maybe you want to thing a little bit more about this before you go and do anything that you can’t take back.” He accompanied these words with moving his chair away from hers.
“I have been thinking for quite long enough.” Kaylee was practically in his lap again. “I want to do something.” She leaned over him and ran one finger down the inside seam of his pants, again. She traced the seam to the waistband, found the zipper, and resolutely began to pull it down.
Mal leapt out of his chair, knocking it backward in the process. “Okay, this has to stop right now. Kaylee, you can’t be doing this.”
“I think the fact that I am doing should be proof enough that I can.” Kaylee stood up and pulled Mal close. She kissed him, solidly. Her lips pressing firmly into his and her tongue pushing insistently at his mouth until he practically had to open it, which seemed to be enough encouragement for Kaylee because she immediately slid her tongue into his mouth. He was shocked, to say the least.
“Uh, Captain?” Jayne had somehow appeared behind Mal.
“Yes, Jayne?” Kaylee had stopped kissing him and was standing next to him looking perfectly innocent as if she hadn’t just tried to molest him. Or that it was just something she did every day.
“Wash just called on us on the com. Turns out our contact isn’t as interested as we thought. Saw some feds and got cold feet.”
“Okay, so this was all just a pointless waste of time. Good to know.” Mal moved to leave, hoping that he didn’t seem different and even more hoping that Jayne wouldn’t realize that Kaylee hadn’t been kissing him just to blend in. If he was really lucky no one would remember much of the night and he could get out of a lot of embarrassing situations. Especially how nice it had been to kiss Kaylee.
* * *
The next day things were back to normal. Their contact had permanently pulled out but Mal wasn’t much concerned, they had other work waiting for them. Kaylee had seemed as if she didn’t even really remember last night, with the exception of a headache that morning. Jayne hadn’t mentioned anything. All in all it had proven to be a good day.
Mal was still filled with his good feeling when he walked down the ladder to his quarters and saw something, no someone, in his bed. Walking closer he saw that the someone was Kaylee and she appeared to have fallen asleep in his bed. “Now, Kaylee. What are you doing here?”
“Well Captain, I started something last night and I intend to finish it.” With that she unceremoniously pulled him down and started kissing him. Mal put up little defense, just locked his door. He didn’t want them to get interrupted again.
