I am IRON MAN!
May. 3rd, 2008 10:16 pmSo I saw Iron Man. In one word awesome.
I thought it was a really great adaptation. It's relevant, it moves, it doesn't feel like it is bogged down in origin for so long that you never get a proper story. The origin is a good enough story since it feels like everything is tied up together so well.
Robert Downey Jr. is great. He plays the shallow playboy Tony Stark and the is believably the changed man that Tony becomes. I even liked Gwyneth Paltrow, she disappears into the character in a very real way. Terrence Howard was a good Jim Rhodes. Essentially I have no actor complaints, especially not about the one that is the best of them all.
When RDJ is in Afghanistan he could not have been hotter. He's pretty hot normally but when he was all scruffy and looked a little bit like a hobo? Hot like burning.
The true of love of Tony and JIm is so true. There should be lots of fic about them and the true love they share of blowing things up and saving the world.
The first time the mentioned S.H.I.E.L.D. I let out a little sound that can not be heard by human ears. I love S.H.I.E.L.D. so much even when they are being dicks because they have awesome things. Like Helo Carriers.
Samuel L Jackson as Nick Fury! Best casting ever. And he was setting up a future for the Avengers. I freaking love the Avengers, especially if this means there will be Captain America.
Perfect music. Absolutely perfect. Just enough of "Iron Man" to be cool without so much that it got cheesy.
I have more thoughts but no complaints (maybe later when I calm down.) I think I like this better than any of the other first superhero movies.
