Soap Operas of Days Past

Watching old soap opera clips (of my favorite storyline ever -- Michelle Bauer has to marry mobster Danny Santos so that she doesn't get killed for the accidental death of his brother and their long journey from tolerating each other to love) is making me want to write a romance novel with this exact same plot. I could probably get away with it too. Maybe I will try my hand at it. (lilly_plaid this doesn't mean I'm giving up on the Magnum Opus. I'm just expanding my writing.

Watching today's Guiding Light pales to that divine storyline. Michelle and Danny aren't even really on the show anymore and they wouldn't be the fantastic actors who started this whole love story.

I could go on about why it was great (Danny was so in love with Michelle way before she was. Neither of them ever gave up. MIchelle faked blindness so that he wouldn't get arrested -- there was a whole thing where Michelle really did use to be blind temporarily leading to her meeting her first boyfriend Jesse the illiterate orderly.) But I'm not going to go on and on. I'm just going to keep watching the clips.
