Last Nights BSG
Jul. 30th, 2005 06:50 pmI loved the episode.
My favorite parts were on Kobol. I think the speed with which they fought and the small moments were wonderful. I quite liked the way that the Chief quietly tried to talk Crashdown out of the crazy attack plan was contrasted with Baltar. They distinguished why Tyrol is great at his job. He didn't like the plan but he knew there couldn't be an argument about it.
I didn't expect Baltar to kill Crashdown. And I think the real telling thing there is that Baltar didn't do it only because he didn't want to do the mission. He did it to save Cally. That was a wonderful and tense scene.
There is more to Kobol than meets the eye. That place has something funky going on.
Tiny awesome moment when Lee talked about the Butcher's Bill. So Hornblower.
Galactica had no action this time around but many good moments. I love that Tigh knows how frakking bad he is at leading. I still like him but he made a huge mess now.
I expected the last second save of Roslin. I was happy to see the pragmatic side of her come out with the prophetess. I didn't know that the Quorum would suddenly drop to worship her but that was a very good scene. I expect that this season will have a growing emphasis on the religion aspect and an ever-growing group of "true-believers." I feel like this will nicely contrast the cylons views of religion.
The only downside was the lack of Starbuck. It's a testament to the show that I didn't notice until half way through and then didn't even really care.
