It was in a word perfect. I know that there are probably problems to be found if I wanted to but I can't think of any right now. I adored it from the beginning to the end.

I'm going to do this by point as I remember things.

Harry -- If I didn't love Harry before I would know. He was great all the way through. He really did go on a quest with the doubts and the trials and the people who doubt him but he survives and more than that ultimately thrives. The two moments in the book when I cried the most were Harry at his parents grave (I thought the whole section of the visit to Godric's Hollow was incredibly moving) and when he uses the Resurrection Stone while going to see Voldemort. The talk he has with all of them was beautiful.

Hermione -- I love that her part in the whole thing was to be the thing that slowed them down. She was meant to doubt that the story was real and thus prevent Harry from gathering the things before he could handle them. I love that she was calm and collected and perfect in every way. The scene Ron sees in the Horcrux, that the only way she and Harry could be together would be if they were evil. (That whole bit with the "We're like brother and sister" stuff reminded me even more strongly of Star Wars than Voldemort and Dumbledore's duel in the Order of the Pheonix movie.)

Ron -- He had his doubt but he came back when it counted. He managed to show many of his best aspects, his quick wits being one of the most important, Hermione is brilliant but it's Ron who thinks on his feet.

The Weasleys -- If there had ever been any doubt that the Weasleys are the best family that ever existed it was obliterated in this book. Ginny trying so hard to disrupt everything. Fred and George keeping up with good humor. Percy coming back when things really mattered and being most guilty of being far too proud. I also love Aunt Muriel because I love old ladies who do whatever they want because they are old (I plan on being one of these ladies when I am old.) The way they react after the death of Fred is terribly sad but so real and perfect. And finally Mrs. Weasley yelling at Bellatrix LeStrange and defending her whole family. I think if the books showed one thing it is that mothers are extremely important.

Neville -- In rereading the books I had noticed Neville more than ever and really started to love him (this had a little to do with the adorableness of the actor who plays him in the movies). Thus I was so happy to see how important he was in the book. I'm so proud of him he really showed how great he was and hopefully is getting lots of credit. I thought the bit where Voldemort says he ought to join and Neville just throws it back in his face was great. And then he gets the sword and kills the snake. I love that Harry just told him so that someone would know and it ended up being vital to the end.

I thought much of the book was really well done. The section with the Dursleys was very well played and the flashback with the revelation that Petunia hates witches and wizards because she wanted to be one so much (that before Lily had gone they had been extremely close) was actually perfect.

I dont like Snape. I've never really liked him but his end was actually perfect. It's better knowing that Dumbledore was dying anyway and in killing him Snape just did what he asked. It took me a few minutes to remember that when he caught Ginny, Luna and Neville trying to steal the sword he sent them into the Forbidden Forest knowing it wouldn't be a punishment at all. He didn't really redeem himself because in a way he didn't have to.

Love really was the power that Harry had and Voldemort didn't. In the end Voldemort couldn't even keep his own followers on his side, they were much more concerned for personal safety (or again a mother's concern for a child) but everyone Harry ever knew (and many he didn't) came out to stop Voldemort in the end. (I adore when Neville's Gran shows up I imagine she is also one of those old ladies who does whatever she pleases and that makes me happy.) It was beautiful to see that people we had met so long ago showed up to help Harry in the end.

I probably have more to say but can't remember it now (except that the story of Dumbledore and Grindelwald was quite similar to the backstory of Professor X and Magneto in X-Men isn't it.) I'll be back with more later. Right now I can't even be sad that it's over because it ended so perfectly. Harry and Ginny are married and they have lots of babies and so do Ron and Hermione! It's all so perfect I could cry with joy!

Well in actual history yes. But in the idea of people with special abilities ruling over those with no abilities for their own good and one person changing from this path it's more like X-Men.
